Executive Director Position
The Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce is seeking a hard working, dynamic, relationship-building, innovative change agent to serve as Executive Director.
Desired skills and expertise
The candidate must have management, economic development, and research experience and should be able to foster a team environment and effectively collaborate with key partners.
Specific skills and expertise include but is not limited to the following:
- Ability to supervise and manage a team of professional and administrative staff
- Ability to collaborate effectively with the private sector, Government, Labour unions and civil society.
- Ability to prepare a budget and manage finances
- Ability to communicate ideas verbally and in writing clearly and concisely
- Ability to work effectively with others and cultivate productive professional relationships.
We would prefer a candidate with a BSC degree in economics or a related discipline with a minimum of five years experience in a supervisory or management role.
Job description and responsibilities
The Executive Director of the GCIC manages a full-time staff of three to five persons and is responsible for membership growth and retention as well as the overall financial management of the Chamber’s budget. Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and has these primary responsibilities:
- The implementation of Board Policies and directives as regards to programmes and initiatives related to the operations of the GCIC
- The supervision of the day to day operations of the GCIC Secretariat
- Ensuring proper financial management of the GCIC
- Acting as principal contact between the GCIC and other bodies, in particular the Government, Civil Society and the Labour Movement
- Conducting advocacy on behalf of the GCIC membership and wider Private Sector, as directed by or in conjunction with the Board
- Researching issues of relevance to Private Sector interest and briefing the Board on these issues
- Representing the GCIC and the Private Sector at meetings, seminars and other activities locally, as well as overseas
- Guiding and monitoring the staff of the GCIC Secretariat, as well as facilitating their professional advancement through training and other activities
Compensation
Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
