The Grenada Chamber of Industry and Commerce is pleased to announce its plans to reintroduce the Junior Achievement Programme in Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique starting September 2007. This has been a very successful programme prior to hurricane Ivan with 460 students from various secondary schools graduating in 2004 representing 18 Junior Achievement companies, 17 of which benefited from Private Sector assistance.
Junior Achievement is a not-for-profit organization sponsored by corporate and individual contributors’ island wide. Junior Achievement focus is on key content areas of entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy. It uses hands on experience to help young people understand the economics of life. In partnership with business and educators, Junior Achievement brings the real world to students, opening their minds to their potential. The Chamber is keen to be part of this valuable development of the next generation of business entrepreneurs nationwide.
We are excited about restarting the Junior Achievement programme and require the financial and other support of the secondary schools, the tertiary institutions, the business community, civic organizations, past graduates from Junior Achievement and any interested individuals. For the programme to work, we need mentors, consultants and advisers to volunteer their time over a period of 9 months. If you feel you can contribute in any way, call the Chamber on tel: 440 2937 or email: gcic@caribsurf.com.
