How JA Company Program Works

The recruited students form a company of 24 students who will meet one afternoon a week for twenty five (25) weeks in their respective schools. The JA Company program meets the after-school programming needs by providing and engaging, academically and experiential learning sessions in economic education. The following key concepts are presented:

  • Company structure and the student’s role within a company
  • Company capitalization
  • Customer-product focus
  • Product-market pricing
  • Company operations
  • Product sales
  • Liquidation

At the end of the 25 weeks, the Companies are required to publish an Annual Report and conduct an Annual General Meeting to evaluate the performance of the company. Profitable JA Companies usually make contributions to charitable organizations.

These JA Companies are assisted by Private Sector companies who will send personnel to the schools as Consultants/Volunteers.

Each JA Company will be provided with a kit containing detail meeting plans and other materials for students, teachers and volunteers.

Apart from weekly meetings, there are other activities which supplement the learning process for the Achievers:

  • Leadership Training Seminar
  • Open House
  • Annual Trade Fair
  • Graduation & Awards Ceremony & Cocktail
